The Cook Memorial Library’s Literacy Center is open every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in La Grande. From 1:30PM – 5PM, devoted volunteers assist any individual that needs help in all areas of reading, writing, and speaking. There are opportunities to connect with reading partners, develop reading and language skills, and even help with homework for students. This is a perfect opportunity for all ages to receive free help in these literacy skills, or even for someone you care for. The Blue Mtn. Old Time Fiddlers will be performing again on Saturday, September 15th, at the Rockwall Grange in Elgin. There will be a tater-tot casserole served starting at 4:30PM for just $5. The fiddle show will begin at 6PM, and is $5 at the door, $4 for card members, and free for kids 12 & under. Come out to enjoy a great evening of music, dinner, dancing, and fun!
Elkhorn Community Preparedness in Baker City hosts a monthly meeting at the Sunridge Inn, on the third Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be held at 6:30PM on September 18th, and will focus on rural road closures throughout the area. All Baker County residents are welcome to attend the meeting.
