Ballot Measure 105 would repeal the state’s illegal immigrant sanctuary statute…. and it is getting the full support of Oregon’s county sheriffs, who colletively say being squeezed between state and federal law is uncomfortable. The federal government has put local governments across the country on notice that failure to communicate the presence of illegal aliens in their local jail could result in the suspension of all federal grant monies. But officers here in Oregon are unable to do that, because of Oregon’s controversial sanctuary laws. The sheriffs say passage of Measure 105, would allow them to comply with federal law, and to continue to receive federal money.
