A repeal of Oregon’s sanctuary law could be coming in November. Recently, 16 county sheriffs announced support for Measure 105, which would get rid of the state’s statute that prohibits use of state and local resources to enforce federal immigration law. Clatsop County Sheriff Thomas Bergin says failing to enforce immigration laws legitimizes more law-breaking. The sheriffs supporting Measure 105 represent nearly half of Oregon’s counties, but because of the population concentrations in large/liberal leaning cities such as Portland, that area accounts for less than 20 percent of the state’s population… mirroring a similar sentiment nationwide in the last presidential election, which many say cements the legitimacy and forward thinking of our founding fathers, when they devised the Electoral College.
