A request will go before the Union County Planning Commission soon, to create a new 250-acre rock quarry near Interstate 84 east of Perry. So far, the application submitted to the planning department is not complete, and the first meeting to discuss the proposal will not take place until August 27th, but the entire application must be submitted by August 13th. The application is expected to request approval to construct a rail spur and begin aggregate processing, including light crushing, screening, washing and stockpiling.
