The Miners Jubilee parade in Baker City had to be called to an end early Saturday morning when a tragic accident took the life of a 7 year old boy.

At 11:17AM, Dylan S. Thomas of Baker City, fell off of a parade float and was struck by the rear wheels of the commercial motor vehicle, according to Police Chief Wyn Lohner.

Although all indications are that this was a tragic accident, the Baker County Major Crime Team, along with patrol units from the Baker County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police and Baker City Police Department are working with District Attorney Matt Shirtcliff to thoroughly investigate the incident.

Baker County Public Safety Chaplains were also on scene, along with Mental Health workers from New Directions Northwest. Prayers are appreciated for all involved.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help support the Dylan Thomas Memorial Fund. Funds will help cover funeral and burial expenses, as well as going toward helping the parents take some time off from work to grieve the loss of Dylan and take care of their daughter.
