On Friday, June 14th, 2019 at 7:00AM, The La Grande Police Department Detective Division arrested 50-year-old Scott Lee, of Union on the charges of Disorderly Conduct I, Initiating a False Report and Obstructing Governmental Justice in regards to a bomb threat that occurred at the Union County Courthouse on June 11th, 2019.
On June 11th, 2019 at 9:47AM, the Union County 911 center received a 911 call of a bomb threat from an anonymous male caller. The bomb threat stated that there were bombs in the Union County Courthouse that were set to detonate in 30 minutes. La Grande Police Department officers, Union County Sheriff’s Office deputies as well as medical and fire crews from the La Grande Fire Department responded to the scene to aid in an evacuation of the courthouse. A search of the courthouse was completed and no suspicious items were located.
Investigators with the La Grande Police Department and the Union County Sheriff’s Office teamed up to begin a two day active investigation that led to Scott Lee’s arrest. Lee is currently lodged in the Union County Jail.
