Former Eastern Oregon quarterback Zach Bartlow will take his talents across the pond for the second-straight season, this year playing for the Prague Lions in the Czech Republic.
“I am very proud of Zach,” said head coach Tim Camp. “He will be a great addition to that organization.”
Bartlow arrived in Prague at the beginning of March for training camp and will play his first game as a member of the Lions on April 1 against the Prague Black Panthers. In 2017, the Lions finished with a 5-5 record. Bartlow will be with the team until the end of July.
The former EOU quarterback played with the Turku Trojans in 2017, a member team of the Maple League in the American Football Association in Finland. Despite joining the team midway through the year, Bartlow finished as a top-five passer in the league.
As a member of the Mountaineers, Bartlow led the Blue and Gold to its first trip to the NAIA Championships as the team’s starting quarterback. With Bartlow as the signal caller, the Mounties also won their first game ever in the playoffs and advanced all the way to the semifinals.
Bartlow was named a First Team All-Frontier Conference selection for the second straight season. He ended his career as one of the best quarterbacks in EOU history with 28 wins as a starter, 8,308 passing yards, 73 passing touchdowns, 24 rushing touchdowns and 1,792 rushing yards.
