La Grande Parks and Recreation has had to adapt to keep our community safe while still maintaining a sense of unity. This Fall, they will be hosting the first ever Drive Through Halloween Party due to the cancellation of the downtown trick or treating event.
“Because of COVID, we discussed options and were unable to find a way to safely put on our usual Downtown Trick or Treat event, where thousands of children and their families come downtown in a very short time period,” said Taylor Scroggins, Director of La Grande Mainstreet Downtown. “We are extremely pleased to be able to support the Parks and Rec department’s Drive Through Halloween Party as a safe alternative event for our community.”
“We know that this has been a big change for everyone and we are so excited to be able to host an event that should be a crazy amount of fun while still keeping kids safe,” said McKayla Rollins, Recreation Supervisor. The event will feature candy, carnival games that can be played from your vehicle, car decorating contest, jack-o-lantern contest, photo ops, I spy, and more!
The drive through Halloween event is Oct 31st from 4-6PM at Riverside Park. Participants are encouraged to follow the signs at the park for all the fun.
