A project at La Grande Reservoir that will bring steelhead back to Beaver Creek, is complete. A concrete fish ladder, 17 miles south of La Grande, is designed to bring steelhead runs back to upper Beaver Creek, which flows into La Grande Reservoir. Steelhead have not been able to complete the migration since about 1910 when their passage was blocked by a dam built at La Grande Reservoir. The new fish ladder will open up 17 miles of spawning grounds for migratory fish.
