Early Saturday morning… just before 4:30am… a tentative agreement was reached between SEIU and the universities, avoiding a strike this week. The university, offices, facilities, and classes all are open as normal today. The agreement on a 2-year contract with SEIU, averted a strike of about 4,500 classified staff across the state that would have started today, the first day of classes for many of the universities. SEIU members will vote to ratify the contract settlement during October, with implementation occurring in November.
