A wood stove is being blamed for the fire that destroyed a home four miles west of North Powder on Ellis Road. It took firefighters about two hours to contain the blaze at the Cox residence. Crews remained at the scene for about five hours. All water had to be brought in by trucks. Everyone, including children and pets, escaped unharmed. The house was a complete loss.
