The City of La Grande is starting their Annual fire hydrant testing and maintenance program. The Public Works Department will begin these tests starting the afternoon of June 19, 2017. This program is very important to identify the quantity of water available for firefighting purposes and it serves to rid the city’s water distribution system of accumulations of sedimentation deposits over the past year.
Citizens who experience any unusual water clarity problems after the hydrants are flushed are encouraged to turn on a cold-water faucet outside of the house and let it run for 15 to 30 minutes. This will normally clear up the agitated water from the service line to the home. Further problems may be referred to the La Grande Public Works Department by calling 962-1325.
Testing is expected to take place Monday thru Friday from 8AM to 4PM, until ALL hydrants are tested.
