The City of La Grande is starting a Semi-Annual fire hydrant testing and maintenance program. Public Works Department will be conducting these tests this year starting April 1, 2020. This program is very important to allow the public works department to identify the quantity of water available for firefighting purposes and it serves to rid the city’s water distribution system of accumulations of sedimentation deposits over the past year.
Citizens who experience any unusual water clarity problems after the hydrants are flushed are encouraged to turn on a cold-water faucet outside of the house and let it run for 10 to 15 minutes. This will normally clear up the agitated water from the service line to the home. Further problems may
be referred to the La Grande Public Works Department by calling 541-962-1325.
Testing is expected to take place Monday thru Friday from 8AM – 4PM until all hydrants are tested.
