About 50 young scientists from across the region will convene at Eastern Oregon University this week for a three-day leadership institute.

Students in the Oregon Chief Science Officers Program sharpen their networking and planning skills at the training June 20 to 22, empowering them to expand awareness of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in their schools and communities.

Student attendees hail from the Southern Oregon, Columbia Gorge, Frontier and Greater Oregon STEM Hubs. National CSO program Coordinator, Bruce Jones, will travel from Arizona to take part.

Greater Oregon STEM collaborated with the Frontier and Columbia Gorge STEM Hubs, Oregon Department of Education and the National Chief Science Officer Program to host the institute.
