Sara Hayes, from the American Council For An Energy-Efficient Economy, joins The Morning Buzz to discuss the important value of energy standards that are in place for electric products, such as light bulbs.
These regulations for products, including light bulbs, have shown a significant cost savings and reduction of power consumption in the past 12 years since they were first adopted. The concern today is that the Department of Energy will roll back these energy standards, which could lead to inefficient products finding their way back into homes and businesses.
As a member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Air Act Advisory Committee, Sara also speaks on the connection between energy standards of all kind, and how that relates to cleaner air and better overall health in our country.
The Natural Resources Defense Council has a petition available online to allow consumers to speak their mind about keeping these energy standards in place, moving forward.
